Blackfoot Sisters
Oil
14″x14″
My favorite subject matter has always been portraits. I find the landscape of the human face fascinating. I have been fortunate to have been able to paint this beautiful Blackfoot girl several times over the last few years.

Smoke Break
Oil
24″x36″
A Metis moose hunter takes advantage of calm water to smoke a bowl of kinnickinnick, a mixture of herbs, red willow, and tobacco. I think birch bark canoes are the most beautiful of all watercraft and great fun to paint and sculpt.

Blackfoot Sentinel
Bronze
43″
A war shirt decorated with glass trade beads, dyed porcupine quills and ermine, beaded leggings and bear claw necklace identify this Blackfoot warrior as a man of wealth, distinction and worthy of respect. A man earned the right to wear a war shirt through acts of bravery and leadership. These elegant garments were worn for religious ceremonies and special occasions and were meant to impress.
