‘It Has to Hit Home’

Colorado is home to Jay Moore—always has been and likely always will be. And why not? It has everything this talented landscape painter could possibly want, when it comes to subject matter—from creeks and rivers to aspen groves and mountains. Throw in the magnificent wildlife that occasionally makes its way into one of Moore’s paintings, and it’s clear that he is exactly where he should be.

Colorado’s lifestyle also appeals to Moore, who grew up in Evergreen, a sleepy little town with a creek running through it and a lake nearby for fishing in the summer and skating in the winter.

Moonrise on Lake Dillon
Oil
16″ x 20″
“I was unhappy with this painting and had it leaning against the wall for quite some time. Then, suddenly one day, I looked at it and knew exactly what I needed to do to improve it. That will be my little secret, but I like it better now.”

Glow of Aspen
Oil
36″ x 48″
“If you have ever walked through an aspen forest in the fall, you have experienced the glow of ambient light that surrounds you. The yellow cast is different than the blue light that we are used to, and it makes you feel like you are in a dream.”
