Kim Casebeer has happily spent her entire life in Kansas—and why not? It’s where she was raised, earned her college degree, met and married Shannon, started her family, and began what quickly became a successful career as a landscape painter.

That success is apparent in the many awards she has earned, including top honors in the Art Muse Contest’s Master Class Division this past March, an Award of Excellence in the 2015 National Oil Painters of America (OPA) Exhibition, and an Award of Excellence in the 2014 Western Regional Oil Painters of America Show. While she values the honors she has earned for her work, she values more the opportunity to get out and paint the natural beauty around her and to share with viewers her love of that beauty.

Hush Over Buffalo Valley
Oil
34″x30″

“There are, of course, lots of great places to paint in and near the Tetons. This is one of my personal favorites. From this valley, you can see the Tetons, as well as the Buffalo Fork of the Snake and farmsteads that dot the valley. Unlike many places in the park, it is quiet and not crowded. I always feel at peace when I paint here.”

Impromptu Arrangement
Oil
18″x28″

“This composition is different for me, and I enjoyed the challenge of it. My goal was to arrange and connect the water lilies in such a way as to continually move the eye through the piece. I think it is really successful, as it has nice movement and rhythm.”
